July, 2019

GS1 Egypt and the ETA signed a protocol to implement GS1 standards (GTIN barcodes and GPC codes) for the e-invoice portal.

November, 2020

ETA issued decree no. 386, requiring 134 companies to issue e-invoices and use GS1/GTIN and GPC codes by November 2020.

December, 2022

All Egyptian companies must use GS1/GTIN barcodes and GPC codes for e-invoicing by December 2022.
